If you know anything about advertising, you know it is important to keep things simple for the consumer. My instructor at the Defense Information School use to really tear into me and put red marker all over my papers for being too complicated in explanations, story details and the like. His favorite saying to me was “KISS it, Sgt. Stenzelbarton!” He meant I needed to keep my writing simple. (Keep It Simple Stupid — KISS)
So when kicking around ideas for July Specials at Floor Style, we went with that theme.
All abrasives, all month, all on sale, at all the branch locations. See the word “All?” Makes it easy on everyone. Call one of the sales people and ask what abrasives are on sale? They’ll say all of them. Need a 5′ hook and loop for your palm sander? It’s on sale. Need a box of 60 grit belts? On sale. Edger discs? On sale. 50-foot roll of drum sander paper? On sale.

If it is an abrasive, consider it on sale.
Making it even easier on everyone, in the database, we just put in a discount amount in a parameter field and all the abrasives are marked down to the sale price. (Is that too much information again?)
Yes, we also have the Clarke special going on through the end of the month too. We’ve had some very good success with this one: Buy a FloorCrafter 8″ belt sander, get an edger free. That’s another simple sale.

There is also the $99 drum recovery deal for customers. This one has been so popular with many people because the drums are lined up the full length of the work bench, the floor and the drum recovery room. We are very happy with how this deal has gone over because it too is simple: buy from us, we’ll fix your drum very inexpensively.

There are enough complications in life, Floor Style is doing what it can to keep it simple.

OK, two blogs in one day is a little unusual, but I have got to get this out there right now! Many of you know Kerry, our manager in Nevada who, along with Tony and Steve take care of the west coast. Anyhow, he calls me a few minutes ago and says “Terry! Get this out! We are going to get rid of all our in-stock Clarke equipment before Memorial Day.” I pause for a minute before I says back to him “Kerry, you realize that is a week from Monday.” There was a long pause on the phone. I think he was checking the calendar because he didn’t realize how short of time that really is. “OK” he finally says, “find a way to tell as many people as possible, but we can’t advertise the pricing or some other Clarke vendors might get upset. So don’t advertise pricing!”

This puts someone in my position in a bit of a pickle. We have a great sale, but we can’t advertise prices and we don’t have time to send out post cards or a mass faxing campaign. There just isn’t time! There are between 3 and 400 people who read this blog regularly so this is a starting point so I can go home tonight with a clear conscience that I started.
Our Clarke products in stock, including some dust containment pieces, a number of brand spanking new edgers, some belt and drum sanders have all had their prices cut to the “dirt cheap” range. Call now. ask about the Clarke equipment you need and then have the sales associate tell you how much it normally is and how much we’re selling it for now. If after they tell you the price you say “That’s pretty cheap,” tell them you get an extra $1 off.

It sounded funny in my head when I wrote that headline. Maybe not so much now that I read it.
